PHOTOGRAPHY

Similar to design, this was my first year working as a photographer. It was nice to gain more experience in different areas of journalism. I had no experience with a 35mm digital camera until I began my work with The Shawnee Post. For the first few weeks of my internship, I used automatic setting as a bit of crutch. I didn't even know where to start when it came to ISO, aperture and shutter speed. My Post editor challenged me to work with manual setting for more control. I definitely feel more well-rounded and college-ready after this experience.

Kind of Blue

Senior Michael Houser (NMH) began creating music in 2018, shortly before his grandfather’s death. He used this to process the loss of the man who helped him discover his passion for the artform. “He had so much appreciation for music,” Houser said. “The intricacies of music and the way things are composed are really important to me because of him.”
